As of the 11th January 2012, Support U have now been given a charity number from the charity commission. This is the offical line. Support U is a trading name of Support U Limited, a company registered in England and Wales Number: 07708702.

20/12/11 Support U, would like to offer the LGB&T Community of Reading a chance to to get fit for 2012 together. Many of you have said that you wanted a place to be together and not feel intimadated, so we have teamed up with Anna-Marie. This is will be the first of many new and v aried ideas that we have coming up.

You only have to have seen Anna-Marie at Reading Pride to know you will get a real work out.

You can now donate to Support U. We need donations to get us started, if you believe in this service for the LGBT Community of Reading and the surrounding areas then please donate today. Support U would like to thank Reading Borough Council for Supporting the motion to look at accommodation and a start up fee. We look forward to working in collaboration with the council on this project. If you want a say in this centre please fill in our survey. Found at the bottom of this page.

The petition for an LGBT Centre in Reading will be going in on the 18/10/11 @6.30pm please sign the petition by
Monday 17th Oct, 6pm.

Please come down and show your support outside of the Civic Centre at 6pm on Tuesday 18th October.

So what is Support U?

Support U is a local charity that aims to provide a safe place for people to come and talk, ask questions and socialise with other LGBT people.

Support U was formed when it was becoming very obvious that with more and more people wanting to come out and wanting advice and information, that there was no central hub where people could walk in and get the support they needed. Though there are several LGBT groups in the Reading area there is no tight network of communication between them and they are often hard to access.

Support U already has the backing of all the groups in Reading, and our aim is to bring these strands of support together under one roof for everyone to call home.

Pulling together Reading’s LGBT resources is Support U’s first step so we can access the information we need to then show councils, funders and supporters in your area.

We need your help:
